The GB/T 11904-1989 standard specifies a method for the determination of potassium and sodium in water quality using flame Atomic absirption spectropho- tometry, AAS. The standard applies to the detection of surface water and drinking water. The determination range of potassium is 0.05 to 4.00 mg/L, and the determination range of sodium is 0.01 to 2.00 mg/L. The method is based on the measurement of the absorption of resonance radiation by the ground state atoms. The interference is eliminated by adding an ionizing buffer to ensure the accuracy of the detection. This standard applies to environment monitoring and drinking water security evaluation.
