The GB/T 11904-1989 standard specifies a method for the determination of potassium and sodium in water quality using flame Atomic absirption spectropho- tometry, AAS. The standard applies to the detection of surface water and drinking water. The determination range of potassium is 0.05 to 4.00 mg/L, and the determination range of sodium is 0.01 to 2.00 mg/L. The method is based on the measurement of the absorption of resonance radiation by the ground state atoms.
