This standard specifies the principle, symbols and instructions, hardness gauge, specimen, test procedure, uncertainty of test results and test report of Shore Hardness test for metallic materials. The applicable range of Shore Hardness test is 5 HS~ 105 HS, which is divided into C type (visual type) and D type (indicative type). Reliability and comparability of Shore Hardness test are ensured by standardizing the test method.
