This standard specifies the determination of alkylmercury (including methylmercury and ethylmercury) in ground water and wastewater by Gas chromatography, CG. The method uses mercapto cotton to enrich alkylmercury and detects it with Gas Chromatograph with Electron capture detector, EPS. The minimum detection limit depends on the instrument Sensitivity and the matrix effect of the water sample. Usually the detection limit is 10 ng/L for methylmercury and 20 ng/L. This method is suitable for alkylmercury detection in the field of water quality monitoring and pollutant control.
