This standard specifies the use of PFU (polyurethane foam block) method to monitor microbiomes in water bodies, and to evaluate water quality by measuring the structural and functional parameters of these communities. This method is suitable for field monitoring of freshwater bodies, such as lakes, rivers, etc. It can also be used for indoor toxicity tests of industrial wastewater and chemicals to evaluate their toxicity to water microbiomes. PFU method has important application value in comprehensive water quality assessment and environment management.
