This standard specifies a method for the determination of the concentration of pentachlorophenol in industrial wastewater containing pentachlorophenol and polluted water bodies using the saffron T Spectrophotometric method, spectrophotometry. It is suitable for the analysis of water samples with pentachlorophenol concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 0.5 mg/L. This method separates pentachlorophenol from interferers by distillation, forms a purplish-red complex with saffron T in borate buffer, extracts with isoamyl acetate and determines Absorbance at 535 nm wavelength. This method has a minimum detection concentration of 0.01 mg/L and is suitable for the determination of pentachlorophenol content in environment monitoring.
