This standard applies to the determination of copper content in surface water, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. The method uses 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline to form a yellow complex with copper in a neutral or slightly acidic solution, and is determined by spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 457 nm. The measurement range of this method is 0.06 to 3 mg/L, and the influence of interfering substances can be eliminated by adding reagents such as sulfurous acid and muriatic acid hydroxylamine. This method is suitable for environment monitoring and analysis of copper content in industrial water treatment.
