The GB/T 23710-2009 standard specifies a method for the determination of betaine (or muriatic acid salt) in formulated feeds, condensed feeds, pre-mixed feeds and feed additives using Ion chromatography. The standard applies to the quantitative determination of betaine and its salts with a lower limit of 200 mg/kg. During the analysis, the sample needs to be dissolved or extracted with water. After liquid-liquid extraction and purification, it is separated and determined using a cation exchange column and a non-inhibitory Conductivity Detector. The standard also includes relevant reference documents and reagent requirements to ensure the accuracy and Reliability of the determination.
