This standard specifies a method for the determination of starch syrups such as fructose syrup, maltose syrup, isomaltose syrup and caramel syrup added to honey by Ion chromatography. This method is based on honey containing no oligosaccharides above pentaccharide (DP5), and starch syrup contains such oligosaccharides. After removing fructose and glucose by gel volume exclusion method, the oligosaccharides above pentaccharide are determined by anion exchange chromatograph - Electrochemical detecftor to determine whether honey contains starch syrup. This standard provides a scientific basis for ensuring the purity and mass of honey.
