This standard describes the method for the determination of thorium content in rare earth metals and their oxides by arsenazo III Spectrophotometric method, spectra-trophotometry and Inductance coupled plasma Mass spectrometry, which is suitable for the detection of thorium content in the range of 0.0001% to 0.10%. The sample is separated in a dilute muriatic acid medium and the thorium is measured at a wavelength of 650nm. This method is suitable for the analysis of trace impurities in high-purity rare earth materials, especially in scientific research and industrial applications.
