The ISO 2179-1986 standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for tin-nickel alloy platings consisting of approximately 65% tin and 30% nickel. This standard applies to tin-nickel alloy platings on steel and Miscellaneous metal products to prevent corrosion of the base metal, but does not apply to specific cases such as threaded parts, raw plates, spring rings, etc. The standard covers the requirements for the appearance, thickness, bonding strength and porosity of platings, and details the surface condition, heat treatment and bottom platings requirements of the substrate before Eletroplating. Through this standard, the performance and mass of tin-nickel alloy platings under different conditions of use can be guaranteed.
