This standard specifies the product classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and requirements for marking, Encasement, transportation, and storage of gamma-ray flaw detectors. The standard applies to flaw detector products that use sealed radioactive sources to emit gamma rays for industrial radiography. The standard does not address the requirements for the reading system of gamma-ray flaw detectors, and does not apply to gamma-ray flaw detectors designed for special purposes.
