This standard specifies the product classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, signs, Encasement, transportation and storage of gamma-ray flaw detectors (referred to as gamma-ray flaw detectors). The standard applies to flaw detectors that use sealing radioactive sources to emit gamma rays for industrial radiography, but does not include special-purpose gamma-ray flaw detectors and their reading systems. This standard provides a normative basis for ensuring the safe use of gamma-ray flaw detectors and their product mass.
