This standard defines the terms, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, Encasement, storage and other basic requirements of digital multi-purpose meters (hereinafter referred to as "meters"). It is suitable for digital multi-purpose meters of various categories, as well as analog-to-digital converters for the measurement of analog quantities such as DC voltage, AC voltage, DC current, AC current and resistance. The standard also covers digital instruments and their Accessories, which are based on voltage measurement and have both Miscellaneous power (electric or non-electric) measurement functions, and their digital display parts. The standard does not apply to analog multi-purpose meters and Miscellaneous non-digital indicator meters.
