This standard specifies a method for the spectrophotometric determination of silicon content in rare earth ferroalloys under the condition of dilute acid dissolving. Applicable to rare earth ferroalloys with a silicon content in the range of 0.005% to 0.20%. Absorbance is calculated by forming a silicon-molybdenum heteropolyacid complex and measuring its silicon content.
