This standard specifies two methods for measuring the combustion performance of rubber in a laboratory environment: the oxygen index method (method A) and the vertical combustion method (method B). It is suitable for evaluating the combustion performance and flame retardant performance of rubber materials, but not for assessing the fire hazard of rubber materials under actual use conditions. Method A evaluates the combustion performance by measuring the minimum oxygen concentration that maintains the combustion of the material, and Method B evaluates the combustion performance by observing the combustion phenomenon of the sample. The test device consists of a combustion cylinder, a sample holder, a gas source, and a gas measurement and Control system.
