This standard specifies the drop weight test method for the determination of the plasticity-free transition temperature of ferritic steel products (including plates, profiles, cast and forged steels), including the principle of the test, the preparation of the sample, test equipment, test procedures, test requirements, evaluation of test results and preparation of reports. The plasticity-free transition temperature of ferritic steels refers to the temperature at which the material transitions from toughness to brittleness under specific conditions. This method is suitable for ferritic steels with a thickness of not less than 12 mm. By measuring the brittle transition temperature of the material at low temperature, its safety performance in low temperature environments is evaluated.
