This standard specifies the method for the determination of cyanide in wood activated carbon. After heating the sample with tartaric acid solution to generate hydrogen cyanide, the presence of cyanide is finally determined by the reaction of ferrous sulfate and ferric chloride to form a Prussian blue compound.
