The standard specifies the determination of the pH value and diluted difference of the aqueous extract of leather. It is suitable for all types of leather, but not for leather that has been treated with water repellent treatment. The diluted difference is the difference between the pH of the measurement solution and the pH after the solution has been diluted 10 times. The pH value is determined by preparing the aqueous extract of the leather sample and using a pH Meter. If the pH is less than 4.0 or greater than 10.0, the diluted difference is determined. Reagents include distillation water or deionized water and buffer solution. Testing with Shaker, pH Meter and Analytical Balance is required.
