The ASTM B490-09 (2021) standard specifies a test method for micrometer flexural ductility of electrodeposited coatings. This method is used to evaluate the mass of low ductile coatings and is suitable for controlling Eletroplating solutions and detecting possible contamination or adverse conditions. This test is particularly suitable for coatings that are subjected to moderate stress, such as Eletroplating parts of automobile bumpers. Due to the strong operator dependence, the test results can only be regarded as semi-quantitative data and are suitable for internal process control.
