This standard describes a test method for the determination of trace peroxides in organic solvents. Peroxides are commonly used in organic solvents to catalyze or initiate reactions, but their presence may pose a safety hazard. This test method can determine peroxides with reactive oxygen species levels in the range of 5 to 80 μg/g (PPM). It is suitable for a variety of organic solvents, including saturated hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers, etc. The test method is also applicable to certain solid samples and requires viewing the safety data table (SDS) for relevant safety information.
