Method and procedure for measuring impact resistance of films (graphic)

The impact resistance of the coating film is generally determined in accordance with the national standard GB/T1732-93 "Determination of Impact Resistance of Paint Films". It specifies the test method for the paint film’s impact resistance to be expressed by the maximum height (cm) of the heavy hammer falling on the test plate caused by the damage of the paint film with a fixed mass.

This standard applies to the determination of the impact resistance of paint films.

The operation steps are as follows:

Test under the temperature of 23±3℃ and humidity of 50%±5%. Place the paint film of the painted sample on the iron felt facing upwards. The impacted part of the test plate is not less than 15mm from the edge. The distance between the edges should not be less than 15mm. The heavy hammer is fixed at a certain height of the slide cylinder by the control device (the height is specified by the product standard), press the control button, and the heavy hammer falls freely on the punch. Lift the weight, take out the test plate, and record the height. After 3 consecutive impact tests, use a 4x magnifying glass to observe whether the paint film has cracks, wrinkles and peeling off.
