German Elixin ERICHSEN504 drying time gauge principle:

The probe moves across the surface of the coating film at a definite velocity, and the trajectory generated by the needle varies depending on the level of drying. Different drying periods are defined by calculating time and trajectory characteristics.

Design & Features

1 The instrument is composed of a metal substrate with a covering plate, which acts as a platform for six 300*25mm glass plates, the glass plates are coated and the six needles are fixed on a support made of steel.

The 2 On/off switch and control button for adjusting the run time (6, 12 or 24 hours) are located on one side of the mount, and the instrument is marked with 3 time scales, each representing different speeds.

3 The following trajectories are defined to match the degree of coating dryness:
--No trajectory The paint and needle move together
--Continuous trajectory No paint flow
--Diamond trajectory Initial surface drying
--Continuous trajectory on the surface Initial complete drying
--Interrupted trajectory No stickiness at the beginning
--No trajectory Initial drying is rapid

4. Move the mount with the test probe back by hand and place the needle back to the appropriate point to determine the time of each point, the relevant time tick is read from the time scale.

Elixin ERICHSEN504 Drying Time Meter Accessories:

1. It is recommended to use the Elixin Coater Model #360 to produce a uniform, 13 mm wide coating film on the glass strip. 2. Additional copper weights increase the pressure of the needle, so that the performance of particularly resistant paints and topcoats can be determined.
