1. Production Basis

The Schober method paper air permeability Tester is designed and manufactured according to the standard QB/T1667 "Paper air permeability (Schober method) Tester".

2. Purpose and Application

Many kinds of paper, such as cement sack paper, paper sack paper, cable paper, copy paper and industrial filter paper, need to measure their air permeability. This instrument is designed and manufactured for the above-mentioned kinds of paper. This instrument is suitable for paper with air permeability between 1×10-2~1×102um/(Pa.S), not for paper with rough surface.

3. Operating Conditions

The instrument should be placed on a firm and stable workbench in an environment with clean air at a room temperature of 20±10°C.

4. Test steps

1. Close the overflow valve and regulating valve, and open the water filling valve and ventilation valve.

2. Fill the container with distilled water from the water filling valve with funnel.

4. Clamp the sample between the paper sample clamp ring and the air box.

5. Place a measuring cylinder under the overflow port, open the overflow valve, and turn the regulating valve to adjust the pressure difference in the test area to 1kPa (100 mm water column). Since the air permeability of the paper has a good proportional relationship with the constant pressure difference and measurement time, other measurement pressure difference and measurement time can be selected if necessary, but it should be noted in the report.

Before the test, refer to Table 1 to select the appropriate test duration required for the determination of air permeability. When choosing different test durations, the reading error of the test results should not exceed 2.5% as the standard.

5. Installation and adjustment

Place the instrument on a stable, vibration-free workbench and adjust the level of the instrument.

Clamp a thin film on the holder, adjust the constant pressure difference in the test area to 1kPa, then close the drain valve, press the stopwatch, and observe the pressure difference. The allowable difference in pressure difference should be <0.01kPa within half an hour.

6. Repair and maintenance

a) The operator should familiarize himself with the instruction manual and strictly abide by the operating procedures. Non-professionals are not allowed to operate.

b) Always keep the instrument clean. In order to avoid the deposition of impurities on the glass container, distilled water should be used in the pressure gauge and the container.

c) Vacuum grease should be replaced regularly for each valve to ensure sealing performance and flexible rotation.
