JY-PHb Contact Angle Meter is used to measure the contact angle between solid, liquid and gas phases. By measuring the contact angle, calculate and measure the surface physical and chemical properties such as the adhesion of liquid to solid and the surface energy of solid. Automatic contact angle analysis

Using machine vision technology, the baseline and droplet contours are automatically identified, and the quadratic curve fitting calculation is performed based on the Laplace equation to obtain the contact angle value. The effect of gravity on the shape of the droplet is reduced, eliminating human testing errors. For pictures with obvious baseline features, automatic testing can be realized, and for pictures with inconspicuous baseline features, the baseline position needs to be manually specified.



Test Methods

1. Static drip method

Drop a drop of liquid on the solid surface, take a picture of the equilibrium system after the solid-liquid-gas three-phase interface is balanced, and measure the contact angle through the contact angle measurement method provided by the software. It is also possible to take regular photos or videos of the balance process during the test, and then analyze the system change process.

2. Increase and decrease droplet method

Due to the inhomogeneity of the solid surface, it is sometimes necessary to measure the dynamic contact angle to analyze the hysteresis of the contact angle. This instrument can measure the advancing angle by continuously increasing the droplet volume or measure the receding angle by continuously reducing the droplet volume.

3. Inclined plate method (JY_PHb type)

The unique function of JH_PBb type is that the stage can be rotated electrically to form an inclination angle, and the droplet is tilted to one side under the action of gravity until it rolls. This process can measure the advancing angle and retreating angle of the droplet.

Contact Angle Analysis Method

  • Automatic analysis method:

For most pictures, one-key result analysis can be realized, using computer vision analysis technology, quadratic curve fitting method, automatic measurement and calculation results. For a small number of pictures with inconspicuous baseline characteristics, a manual way to specify the baseline is provided and automatic measurement is performed. The display accuracy is 0.1°. The method basically overcomes the influence of gravity on the droplet shape, improves the test accuracy and eliminates human errors.

  • The tangent method is used to measure by manually drawing the baseline and the arc tangent, which is suitable for images with severe asymmetry and manual analysis, with a display accuracy of 0.1°.

  • The measurement method of the height measurement method, by drawing the circumscribed rectangle of the droplet, calculates the contact angle value geometrically, and the display accuracy of the contact angle value is 0.1°.

  • The measurement method of protractor method, by drawing a protractor, the contact angle measurement is realized. The display accuracy of the contact angle value is 0.1°.

  • Chord height method measurement method, contact angle value display accuracy 0.1°.

  • The ellipse fitting method is used for measurement, and the display accuracy of the contact angle value is 0.1°.

Video processing method

  • Preview in a small window, take pictures and analyze in a large window. The main interface of the software has a video display window, which is used to display the video captured by the camera or the video file played.   • Video recording and picture capture function. The test process can be recorded in real time, and the software can capture photos frame by frame after recording the video, which is convenient for capturing fast dynamic changes.

  • Single photo function. Capture and save the current screen displayed by the video, and display it in the main window as a thumbnail.

  • Continuous timing camera function, the Timer Setting can be adjusted arbitrarily. The interval time for taking pictures can be set, and the pictures will be taken automatically after reaching the interval time, which is convenient for analyzing the dynamic change process of contact angle.
