This standard specifies methods for determining the acid value of unused and used electrical mineral insulating oils for the detection of acidic components in them, including organic acids, phenolic compounds, oxidation products, Resins, metal-organic salts and additives. The acid value can indicate the relative change of mineral insulating oils under oxidation conditions, but cannot predict their corrosion. This standard applies to quality control of unused electrical mineral insulating oils.
