This standard specifies the ammonium persulfate - ammonium ferrous sulfate Titrimetric method for the determination of chromium content in nickel-containing pig iron, the determination range is 0.50% to 10.00%. In the method, the sample is first dissolved with acid, and then in the sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid medium, with the help of silver nitrate (AgNO3) as the catalyst, the chromium oxidation with ammonium persulfate is hexavalent chromium. Subsequently, the standard solution of ferrous sulfate ammonium is used for titration. For the sample containing vanadium, an excess of ferrous sulfate ammonium should be added and the standard solution of potassiumhy permanganate should be dripped back. The standard also contains the requirements of reagents to ensure the accuracy of the analysis.
