This standard specifies a method for the determination of mercaptan sulfur content in gasoline, kerosene, jet fuel and distillate fuel using the potential Titrimetric method. The scope of application is from 0.0003% to 0.01% of the mass fraction of mercaptan sulfur. The standard method can effectively determine the content of mercaptan sulfur, while organic sulfur compounds such as sulfides and disulfides do not interfere with the determination. The determination process involves dissolving the sample without hydrogen sulfide in Isopropanol solvent of Sodiumacetate, titrating it with a silver nitrate (AgNO3) alcohol standard solution, and monitoring the potential change with a potentiometer to determine the titration endpoint.
