This standard specifies a method for the determination of total iron content in iron ore using the EDTA photometric Titrimetric method. It is suitable for the determination of total iron content in natural iron ore, iron concentrate and man-made lump ore (such as sinter and pellet) in the range of 30% to 72%. After the sample is dissolved by hydrofluoric acid, a mixed solution of muriatic acid and nitric acid is used for microwave digestion. After chilling down, the pH of the solution is adjusted to 1 with sodiumhydrate. Subsequently, titration is carried out using the standard solution of disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, and the titration endpoint is determined by the photometric electrode, so that the total iron content is calculated. Only analytical pure reagents and high-purity water are used during the analysis to ensure the accuracy of the results.
