This standard specifies three methods for the determination of sulfur content in chromium ores: the combustion-neutralized Titrimetric method, the combustion-potassium iodate Titrimetric method, and the combustion-infrared absorption method. It is suitable for chromium ores with a sulfur content range of 0.005% to 0.50%, but not for ores with a compound water content greater than 1.0%. The method involves the combustion of the sample with oxygen at high temperature to convert the sulfur to sulfate, and then the sulfur content is determined by different analytical means (neutralize titration, potassium iodate titration or infrared absorption). The standard specifies the scope of the determination, requirements and relevant specifications to ensure accurate and consistent analytical results.
