This standard specifies a specific method for the determination of hexavalent chromium in solid waste leachate using the ferrous sulfate ammonium Titrimetric method. The method is equally applicable to the determination of hexavalent chromium in water and wastewater, with a lower limit of quantification of 1 mg/L. METHODS Ferrous sulfate ammonium reduces hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium by eliminating the interference of trivalent iron in sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid medium, using N-phenyl substituted anthranilic acid as an indicator, and excess ferrous sulfate ammonium fate reacts with the indicator, with a yellow-green endpoint. The standard details the use of reagents and the determination process to accurately calculate the hexavalent chromium content in the sample.
