The quality and performance of powder coatings are usually inspected from two aspects. One is the performance before the coating film is formed, which mainly reflects the performance related to the coating process, packaging, storage and transportation. The other is the performance after the coating film is formed, which mainly reflects the physical and mechanical properties, chemical properties and service life performance related to the application requirements.

For example, the performance of common powder coatings and their coating films, the performance of coatings, the determination of angle of repose, apparent density, particle size distribution, melt fluidity, softening temperature, gel time, volatile matter content, storage stability, true density , Flammability and explosiveness, electrostatic deposition efficiency, corner coverage.
The performance of the coating film is appearance, thickness, gloss, adhesion, impact resistance, flexibility, hardness, wear resistance, breakdown resistance, coating porosity, resistivity, electrical strength, tracking resistance, resistance Moisture resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, mildew resistance, heat resistance, weather resistance, temperature change resistance.
To formulate the properties of powder coatings and their coating films, corresponding experimental methods are required. For example, as early as the 1970s in the United States, the test methods for ANSA/ASDM polymer powders and powder coatings and the experimental methods for electrical insulation coating powders and their coating properties had been established. In addition, the International Electrotechnical Commission also proposed a performance test method for electrical insulating powders in the early 1980s.
Our country promulgated the GB 6554 standard "Electrical Insulation Coating Powder Experimental Method" in 1986, and promulgated the industry standard "Epoxy/Polyester Powder Coating" in 1994. Some commonly used experimental methods for powder coating film properties are mainly compiled according to the relevant experimental methods of paint coatings in my country.
