TQC SP1831 Conical Mandrel Tester, Basic Picture

The TQC Cone Flexure Test "Basic" is a simplified version of the TQC Cone Flexure Test "Pro" (SP1830). It is a laboratory piece of equipment used to bend a coated test plate on a conical mandrel to assess the elasticity or resistance of the coating – from a metal test plate to paint or varnish for cracking, elongation, and/or separation according to ISO 6860 and ASTM D522. The tapered shape of the bending area allows for the deformation of the test plate and the elastic range of the coating to be checked in a single test on any diameter between 3.1 and 38mm. The plate is held in place by two clamping knobs, which need to be tightened and loosened by turning clockwise or counterclockwise.

The rugged device is made of a combination of anodized aluminum and stainless steel. Large knobs on the bending arm for easy bending.
