The standard is proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and covers the technical requirements and performance standards of marine waterline paints. Marine waterline paints are mainly used for waterline parts of ships and require good water resistance, weathering resistance and adhesion. The standard is centralized by the National Coating and Pigment Standardization Technical Committee to ensure the use effect and durability of waterline paints in the marine environment. Participating drafting units include the Marine Chemical Research Institute and CNOOC Changzhou Coating Chemical Research Institute.
