ISO 1519-2011 "Paints and varnish - bend test (cylindrical mandrel) " is one of the empirical test procedures used to assess the resistance of coatings to cracking and/or peeling with substrates under fixed conditions. This standard applies to paints, varnishes and their related products, when they are bent around a cylindrical mandrel under standard test conditions. The test methods for single and multi-layer coating systems are covered and can be carried out as a way of passing/failing tests or continuous, repeability tests. The third edition of ISO 1519-2011 cancels and replaces the second edition, as amended in 2002, adding principles clauses and adjusting the test conditions to improve the practicality and applicability of the method. The standard was developed by subcommittee SC 9 of technical committee ISO/TC 35 to provide guidance to manufacturers, users and standardization bodies on the evaluation of coating resistance performance.
